PROFESSIONAL DRAWING WORKSHOPS
We teach a selection of in-person drawing workshops at Vancouver Island Sculpting Studio in Nanaimo.
Each workshop combines strong drawing fundamentals with observation, experimentation, and personal expression - helping you build skills, confidence, and a deeper way of seeing through drawing.
Gesture Drawing
Learn to capture movement, rhythm, weight, balance and expression through the human body. Through quick sketches, guided exercises and drawing from a live model, we explore how to simplify the figure while making drawings feel more alive and expressive.
Portrait Drawing
Portrait drawing goes beyond simply copying a face. It is about understanding and building the human presence. In this class, students will explore portraiture through a structured yet creative approach that integrates observation, anatomy, design, and intuition.
Caricature Drawing
Caricature is the art of observation, exaggeration and character. We learn how to recognize the shapes, proportions, expressions and rhythms that make someone instantly recognizable - then push them creatively while keeping warmth, personality and likeness at the heart of the drawing.
